Mary was raised in a loving family with four brothers and then went on to raise three wonderful children - Craig, Catherine and Colin, who make their parents very proud. As Catherine says, 'none of us are in jail'.
Mary met Malcolm in the spring of 1970 while attending Langara College in Vancouver. A mutual friend, Kent, introduced them and this began their life, love and adventures for the next 51 years.
Mary enjoyed gardening, quilting, knitting, hiking, camping and walking along the beach with her grandchildren collecting rocks as treasures for the yard. She loved her life at the home Malcom and Mary called Beachcomber and was reluctant to be away for long.
After their first trip to Hawaii with dear friends Doug and Wendy, they enjoyed many trips with friends and family. Mary surprised the family with an all inclusive trip to Mexico that was her treat (no one knew where they were going until they were all in the limo). Multiple adventures across Canada, the Yukon, the United States and Europe were to follow.
Mary never had a cross word to say about anyone. She always put others first and worried about them before herself. She loved when family got together on special occasions. Her biggest smiles were when she was with her children, their spouses, and her grandchildren. Mary will always be Nana to Claire, Kate, Anna and Lauren.
Mary is the love of Malcolm's life. She was a devout Catholic and her faith gives him comfort knowing that it gave her strength through her illness and in the end she is with God.
When you think of Mary, remember that big smile and live with the knowledge that you enriched her life with your friendship as we have been blessed with hers.
The family would like to thank you all for your love and support.
Much Love. Go in peace and may God Be With You.
